Double Chocolate Chip Blondie Recipe

I miss sweets. I've given them up recently, and its been one of the hardest things I've ever done. Science has proven that sugar acts on the brain in the same way heroin or other drugs do. I unfortunately won the genetic lottery of being a sugar addict. I went six weeks without sugar up till yesterday.

Ish and me went down to Cardiff Bay for the International Food Festival yesterday. For myself, it was like tossing an alcoholic in a swimming pool of rum and Coke. There was everything sweet from Welsh cakes to brownies, and of course ice-cream. We came upon one vendor selling what looked like blondies (though they called them brownies), and for a moment I almost grabbed one for later that night but realized I was resorting to old habits. It was the hard saying no, but I managed. However, I did grab an ice-cream, something I had been craving for a few weeks. A well deserved treat after dropping 10kg.

Someone once told me that love is like potatoes. In the beginning they're without shape. Uncooked, they're pratically inedible. Like a cold heart buried in the Earth, you've got to dig to find it... and once you do, unlike other plants, potatoes don't wither and die like cut flowers.  No, potatoes grow, they start laying down roots the moment you forget about them. You can fry them, bake them, throw them, cut them, and they'll just get better every time. They only know to give.

People may fall in love with roses, but the ugly potato will nourish you, it will warm you, It doesn't exist to be seen, it exists to feed a hunger. Love is the hunger of the heart.
