Keto Hot Chocolate

I'm quite amused at how hard people make the Keto diet sometimes online. What is Keto you ask? It's a simple philosophy of staying under 20g carbs a day. Yes, it's really that simple. You can eat butter, fat, meat, cheese but things like milk, sugar and bread are mostly no-nos. It's really interesting when you start looking at grocery stores for healthy options only to discover even soy and almond milks are sweetened and sugar-free cocoa mix still has a ton of carbs.

However, here in America there's no shortage of options and this is one of my favorites. I buy no sugar added chocolate soy milk. It's 1g net carb and I can find it at my Wal-Mart Supercenter (though they hide it on the bottom shelf back by the crisps and juices [not in the cooler]). I've also found a version at Harris Teeter with no sweetener which then requires me to add a couple of Sweet and Lows, but this brand: Soy Slender already has Splenda in it.

To give it that yummy, creamy hot chocolate flavor, I simply add a few tablespoons of heavy whipping cream just like I would a cup of coffee. Toss it in the microwave for a couple minutes and squirt a little bit of whipped cream on top if you're feeling a bit of a bad-ass. For about 2g net carbs, you can toss on your pajamas, light the fire-place and enjoy an amazing cups of hot cocoa.
  • 1 coffee mug of Soy Slender chocolate soymilk
  • 2-3 Tablespoons of heavy whipping cream.
  • Whipped topping.
Why go through all the trouble of powders, horrible tasting chocolate, when the simplest answer is sometimes the best tasting one? Don't even get me started on people and low-carb pizza. I'll cover that one soon.
